How does BMW Financial Services work?

BMW Financial Services exists to help get you into the Ultimate Driving Machine^® of your dreams with clear pricing, tailored lease and finance options, and personal service. You'll be guided to the right products and services by the people who know BMW best—and get access to exclusive benefits, offers, and events that take your BMW experience even further.

Should I lease or finance a BMW?

Leasing is ideal if you enjoy driving a new BMW every 2–4 years, want lower monthly payments, and prefer not to be tied to a long-term ownership commitment. Financing (buying) is the better choice if you plan to keep your BMW long-term, want no mileage restrictions, and prefer the possibility of building equity in your vehicle. With BMW Select balloon financing, you can get the benefits of ownership—including no mileage limits—with lower monthly payments similar to a lease, but with a large balloon payment at the end. Use the BMW Payment Estimator at bmwusa.com to compare costs side-by-side.

What is the BMW Financial Services phone number?

You can reach BMW Financial Services at 1-800-578-5000. Customer service is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM ET. For lease-specific questions, you can also call (800) 959-4269. You can also manage your account 24/7 at myaccount.bmwfs.com or via the My BMW App.

How do I contact BMW Financial Services online or by mail?

You can contact BMW Financial Services through the Secure Message Center after logging into your account at myaccount.bmwfs.com.

Who backs BMW Financial Services?

BMW Financial Services is a subsidiary of BMW of North America, LLC (“BMW NA”).

What credit bureau does BMW Financial Services use?

BMW Financial Services may pull credit reports from one or more of the major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion—depending on your state of residence and the specific application. The bureau used can vary by region and application type. Checking your credit reports across all three bureaus before applying is recommended to ensure accuracy.

Is it difficult to get approved for a BMW Financial Services offer?

All offers are subject to credit approval. Your BMW Center can assist with your application and available financing options.

Balance and account information are available online 24/7. To check your balances, manage your account, and more simply sign in to your My BMW account.

Will BMW Financial Services defer payments?

Yes, in certain cases. BMW Financial Services offers eligible customers with the option to postpone one or more monthly payments. To find out if you are eligible for a deferment, please contact BMW Financial Services at 1 (800) 578-5000 to discuss your options.

Can I trade in my vehicle?

Yes, all BMW Centers accept trade-ins. You can apply your trade-in credit towards your down payment to reduce the amount you need to finance on your new vehicle. You may also be eligible for certain tax advantages, such as a reduced state tax, if you opt to trade in your vehicle.

Can you pay BMW Financial Services with a debit or credit card?

While debit cards are acceptable, we cannot accept credit cards for regular monthly payments. To set up one time payments, recurring (EasyPay) payments, or to enroll in Paperless Statements, sign in to My BMW account or use the My BMW App.

What are the BMW Financial Services credit tiers?

BMW Financial Services uses internal credit tiers to determine financing and lease rates. Tier 1 (or 'Tier 1+') generally represents the highest credit quality and receives the most favorable rates—typically available to customers with FICO scores of 720 or above. Lower tiers reflect progressively lower credit profiles and carry higher interest rates. The specific tier thresholds are not publicly disclosed. Your BMW Center can help you understand which tier you qualify for based on your application.

Should I pay off my car or buy out my lease?

There are as many different financial paths available as there are BMW drivers. A representative at your local BMW Center can help you determine the best option tailored to your needs.

To access your Amortization Details, payoff information, and other important documents, simply sign in to My Account, or use the My BMW App on your mobile device.

When will I receive my monthly Account Statements?

Approximately 14 days before your due date. If you would like to see your Account Statement sooner, visit My BMW. With paperless statements, you will receive an email alerting you to view your statements online.

How are my payments applied?

Payments are first credited to unpaid finance charges, then to the outstanding principal balance, then to any outstanding fees. Your Account Statement will break down how your payments have been allocated, or visit My BMW at to view your amortization schedule.

Is there a pre-payment penalty?

BMW Financial Services does not charge a prepayment penalty on retail financing contracts. You may pay off your loan at any time without incurring additional fees. To obtain your current payoff amount, log in to myaccount.bmwfs.com, select 'Payoff Information,' or contact BMW Financial Services directly.

What is the BMW Financial Services repossession process?

As required by law, if you fail to fulfill the terms of your credit obligation, a negative credit report may be submitted to a credit reporting agency, and BMW Financial Services may initiate repossession of the vehicle. If you are experiencing financial difficulty and are concerned about making your payments, we strongly encourage you to contact BMW Financial Services proactively at 1-800-578-5000 to discuss your options before a payment is missed. Programs and payment assistance options may be available.

Is there a grace period for late charges?

Your State regulates the grace period (the amount of time from your due date to when your account will be assessed a late charge). Please refer to the Account Summary section of your Account Statement to determine if you are eligible for a grace period.

What happens when I make payments greater than my regular scheduled monthly payment?

If you pay more than the total amount due, this amount will be applied to the principal balance. This may reduce the interest you pay over the life of your account and may reduce your final payment or shorten the term of your financing agreement.

How are payment credits applied?

Payment credits will be applied on your scheduled due date and will be reflected on your Account Statement. Please see your Account Statement for details.

When is my account reported to the credit reporting agencies?

Federal law requires us to advise you that we may report information about your account to credit bureaus. Late payments (more than 29 days past due), missed payments, or other defaults on your account may be reflected on your credit report. As required by law, you are hereby notified that a negative credit report reflecting on your credit records may be submitted to a credit reporting agency if you fail to fulfill the terms of your credit obligation.
