Assembled in America.

Since the very first BMW rolled off our assembly line in South Carolina in 1994, associates at Plant Spartanburg have assembled more than 7.3 million vehicles for the U.S. market—and the world. Today, Plant Spartanburg stands as a symbol of our commitment in the U.S. and serves as a major economic engine for both the local and national economies. The plant currently employs more than 11,000 people and maintains a job multiplier of 3.5, meaning that for every 10 jobs created at the plant, another 25 are created elsewhere in South Carolina.

Environmental efforts.

Throughout our production process, and even beyond it, we've established sustainable practices and initiatives to help improve our impact.

Recycle & reclaim.

As battery electric vehicles become more prominent, recycling high-voltage lithium ion batteries becomes increasingly important. With key industry partners, our goal is to go beyond, and eventually create a closed loop to reclaim and reuse materials to build new batteries.

Replenish & renew.

Through Scenic America, we’ve planted more than 40,000 trees since April 2023. During every EV test drive event, 25 trees are planted—with the goal of restoring habitats and enhancing scenic landscapes. From our Landfill Gas-to-Energy Initiative to the reclamation of wastewater, BMW Manufacturing works hard to use resources efficiently and lower the impact of our operations.
