At first glance, preserving the environment and maximizing performance seem like two entirely separate goals. But at BMW, we realize how linked they are at an elemental level. BMW Advanced Diesel, for example, has been re-engineered to have a 99% lower emission rate and a far greater fuel economy than the diesel from the past. And this environmentally- friendly diesel doesn't sacrifice performance. In fact, the BMW 6 cylinder diesel engine has more torque than most V8s. In Fall 2008, we will launch two new diesel vehicles, the 335d and X5 xDrive35d, that have the potential to revolutionize the way the world thinks about diesel technology.
Our dedication to EfficientDynamics does not stop with these two vehicles. As we prepare for the arrival of BMW Advanced Diesel with BluePerformance, we will continue working on other innovations, such as our Valvetronic and high-precision direct injection technologies, to reduce fuel consumption and improve performance in all our vehicles. And for the near future, we're developing hydrogen-powered vehicles and advanced hybrids for the US market.
