The new 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine is unrivaled in performance. Making its American debut in the
Z4 sDrive28i, and now available in the all-new 328i and 528i, it boasts 260 lb-ft of torque, which is 30% more than its
6-cylinder equivalent. The maximum output of its 240 hp is achieved at 5,000 rpm - that's 1,500 rpm lower than the former 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine. Encased in an all-aluminum crankcase, it's also lighter and more compact. With powerful and efficient performance like this, our smallest engine will surely take your breath away.

OUR ActiveHybrids HAVE REINVENTED THE HYBRID CATEGORY.
A core part of the BMW EfficientDynamics program, ActiveHybrid technology allows for greater driving dynamics than a conventional hybrid car and at the same time meaningfully reduces fuel consumption.
In fact, our ActiveHybrid 7 Series is now the world's fastest street-legal hybrid Sedan.1 The 455-hp V-8 rockets from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds2 while delivering a 17% efficiency gain versus its all-gasoline counterpart. Our ActiveHybrid X6 has two electric motors and a 480-hp V-8 turbo engine - making it the world's most powerful hybrid.3

The concept behind our patented Valvetronic technology is simple: to enable the engine to breathe more easily. This exceptional engineering allows for increased power output and optimized fuel-efficiency by varying the
lift height of the valves to regulate intake instead of using a traditional throttle. This means that at lower engine loads, the valves open a smaller amount, whereas at full power they open completely. This revolutionary
technology has helped make it possible for BMW to improve its fleet average fuel economy more than any other manufacturer, while at the same time improving performance substantially.

Red lights, long trains, traffic jams, road work. There are countless instances when your engine unnecessarily uses fuel while your vehicle is not in motion. With the intelligent Auto Start-Stop function-an innovation
developed as part of BMW EfficientDynamics-your BMW is designed to not only reduce fuel consumption,
but also lower emissions so your engine can automatically turn off when it's not needed, and restart when it is.
Auto Start-Stop is managed by a central control unit that monitors the battery.
To ensure passenger comfort and safety, Auto Start-Stop is only active when certain conditions are met.
These include, but are not limited to:
- An adequately charged battery
- An engine at the ideal operating temperature
- Fully closed doors
- Fastened seatbelts
